Love Letter from Wiltshire

We were blessed with lovely weather over the weekend here in the south of England, feeling somewhat like Summer's last hurrah, with sunshine and perfect, warm temperatures. Unusually, circumstance meant that I had to work on Sunday. However, I wasn't inclined to complain because I was on site out in the middle of the Wiltshire countryside, with some friendly and curious cows for company.

Plus it means that I get an extra day off this weekend in lieu of my day lost. While I can't imagine it will be quite so summery again, I will be perfectly content to spend my bonus day enjoying the onset of Autumn instead - quite possibly my favourite season.

  1. Oooh, you wonderfully lucky duck, you! We did have a rather lovely (and at times incredibly warm!) summer, but it vanished at the speed of light (we went from +26 on Saturday to +4 the next evening on Sunday - which really caught me off guard, as I was just wearing denim capris and a medium weight sweater at the time). So far our autumn has been unseasonably cold and rainy, but the temps perked back up a bit on Sunday, so perhaps there's hope for a few lovely, golden sun-kissed days still (I really hope so, as it's my fave season, hands down).

Those cows are really cute! You know, unlike most farm animals, I don't think I've ever touched a living cow before (not at least that I can remember). I'd love to one day - so long as it was okay with me doing so, of course! :)

    1. Our temperatures seem to have suddenly plummeted here too now! Why does it always seem to happen overnight, or in the course of a day, to catch you off guard?! I've patted a cow but never milked one - which I think would be an interesting experience to have!

  2. Oh, this is brilliant! You are a marvel with your "eye" for a picture. The sign, the single cow popping her head above the huddle... Makes me smile - and smile again. Someone recently commented that he really liked the way cows appear to just contentedly BE. Horses, he felt, didn't have the same relaxed vibe.

    1. That's very true, that cows are much more mellow than horses. If the picture amuses you, just think how amused I was to see them in person. I rushed to take the photo so as not to miss her sticking her head up...
