Socks and heels - yay or nay? The Cat says 'nay' but I say 'yay'. A friend today basically accused me of being a hipster, in as much as he suggested that I was wearing socks and heels because I thought it was so geeky it was actually cool... But I genuinely think it's fun! A nice nod to the '80s. I'd really like a pair of lacy bobby socks, actually...
I'm also loving the fact that I'm seeing so many girls here in London getting their pale, untanned legs out, now that summer has properly hit, with sunshine and warmth. I bare my white-as-white legs without shame, and it's nice to see others doing the same.
I think your socks and shoes looks really cute here. did you say 80s? The first thing that sprang to mind was my chunky black shoes that I thought were so perfect with my knee-high lime green socks with one or two bees sewn on the top of each one. They wren't knitted socks, but more a thick denier stocking material. This was in the very early 70s. Pity I don't have a photo.
ReplyDeleteI love the sound of your socks and heels! I would proudly and happily wear a pair of lime green socks with bees!
DeletePay your friend no mind, my dear, I think they look terrific. So fun, youthful and stylish! I've been trying to work up the nerve to wear this combo for years now, but the fact that my calves aren't my best asset has kept me from doing it. Who knows, perhaps this summer will finally be the one when I do. :)

*PS* Thank you very much for your immensely lovely birthday wishes, and for sharing some of your own feelings about being 29 with me.
Ha! Yes, I wasn't entirely sure about the effect on my calves and thought maybe white socks would have been better because there would have been a less pronounced chopping off at the ankles... You should definitely give it a shot though - as with any of these things, it's mostly about holding your head high and being happy with your own choice!
DeleteLove those heels!
ReplyDeleteThanks! They're getting a wee bit scruffy after a few years but I'm hanging onto them!
