I love the relaxed days in-between Christmas and New Year's Eve, when the world is in slow-motion, particularly in London, where the contrast between this time and everyday life is so marked.
And so I share with you some glimpses of these past few days.
Dulwich and Forest Hill on the twenty-seventh:
Somerset House terrace on the twenty-eighth:
Perambulations around Clerkenwell on the twenty-ninth:
Wishing you all a very happy New Year.
Ah! I recognise The Cure song of the same title as this post :) Your photos have such a lovely light and ambience. I appreciate what you've managed to include in the one from Somerset House terrace apart from the obvious winter tree and sky and Thames- double-decker bus with Tower of Big Ben and Houses of Parliament, streetlight, amblers, a docking bay. Dulwich and Forest Hill is quite striking in its minimal colour and starkness. The red foliage/flowers against the Clerkenwell building really make the picture. Thank you for these delights. May your New Year bring you - and your readers - more delights!
ReplyDeleteWell spotted, and I'm glad you enjoyed my photographs, and that I've managed to bring across some of the light and ambiance which I so enjoy at this time of year.
DeleteThe Cure reference wasn't lost on me either- love them! Your photographs are amazing; you have an eye for vertical lines. Having been a tourist in London a handful of times, you've shown me the city in a different light- everything seems so quiet. Love that you've captured London icons so unexpectedly, especially in the second photograph!
ReplyDeleteA subtle reference for the fans - I always find the Cure perfect for this time of year especially. And thanks for expressing your appreciation of my photos - I'm glad to be able to show a little bit of London's more peaceful, unexpected side.
